October 2009 Meeting Minutes

Date: 10/12/2009

Location: Bluegrass Porsche Dealership

Officers Present: Steve McCombs, President; Jeremy Miller, VP; Richard Darnell, Treasurer; Tony
Proasi, Secretary

Board Members Present: Mark Lichtefeld, Edgar Smiley

Chairs Present: N/A

Attendance: 24 members

The meeting kicked off around 7:10 pm and was brought into order by the President.

Topics Discussed:

  • The 50th Anniversary Party was a great success and everyone seemed to have a good time. There are a few of the glass blocks left for $20 if you are interested. They have the Porsche crest on one side and the KYPCA logo etchedin the other side. Sophisticated Living magazine will be publishing some information / pictures about the party as well.
  • Jeremy discussed the upcoming DE (driver education) October 23-25. He also mentioned that next year, the fall DE in 2010 will be in September (17 – 19). Steve mentioned that even if you do not participate, you can still come up and support the club. Hotel rooms may be booked up but there should be rooms Saturday night.
  • Steve talked about the drive to Huber’s coming up on October 17. Check the website for when and where.
  • The club treasurer was asked about the financial position of the club said that after the DE and 50th party were paid for, the funds dropped, but are now climbing back up now that DE registrations have started coming in.
  • Steve mentioned that he would like to see more member participation and discussed getting more people to sign up and get involved. He mentioned calling new members to find out their interests and invite them to events.
  • He also asked if there was any interest in another wine tasting event before the end of the year. Everyone seemed to agree that would be a good event to do. He asked about possible locations and Napa River Grill seemed to be the consensus. Stay tuned for more information.
  • Steve then asked the election committee for a report, but Mark Bos was not present and no one quite knew the details.
  • Jeremy wanted to get input on what people liked / would like to do as an event. Here are some of the events mentioned:
    • Get-togethers at someone's house
    • Parties
    • Tech Sessions
    • Chili Cook Off
    • Garage Envy Tour
    • Dance / Jazz Band
    • Habitat for Humanity or other volunteer service
