The new and improved Ky PCA website is up and running. Check it out. There is a 'chat line' similar to the Yahoo list we have been using. Eventually the yahoo list will die from inactivity and we will be relying entirely on the KYPCA website for in-house communication. There is a link for you to sign up and I heartily suggest you do so asap. This is where you will get the latest updates on what's going on. There was some discussion about using the data base I have of member’s e-mails. But often they are out of date and therefore it was decided to require you to sign in individually. Two good reasons: 1) A fresh e-mail from you and 2) it saves us work...

The 1953 is coming along. Andy is finishing up the interior and next will be the brake systems and the motor reinstallation. Should be finished next couple of weeks.

I finally found a very early aluminum engine case for the 1951 motor. It came from Eastern Europe. Long story but, thanks to the internet, things can be found. Now we are looking for NOS pistons and cylinders. If they don't turn up in a reasonable time we will have them made. That's the fun of the 356 and especially the very earliest ones. The hunt! :-)  I have always thought that if the good Dr. Porsche could build a complete car a very few years after we bombed anything that moved in Europe, I can copy it today. Ain't modern technology grand???

We have the new I-R air compressor upstairs in the new garage. Andy mounted it on vibration isolators (Grainger) and used flexible hose to connect to the black iron supply system. We will be good to go when the electrician shows up to finish the wiring of the motor starter etc. For now, we are still using the 5 hp Sears rotary compressor. It is a good unit but we will be offering it to a good home soon.

Our road trip to Auburn IN was fun. It was 18 degrees as we dug thru a couple of sheds and uncovered parts in the snow. John Hora and Andy were in a loft handing boxes down. John was not at all excited about the raccoon poop they found. We brought back a 911 Turbo motor and Tony Proasi took it apart and found a mouse condo under the sheet metal (complete with a couple of their dead relatives). Still sorting and really not sure if it will break even but it was a fun day any way. We returned home late Monday night, dropped the big trailer at the door of Stuttgart Specialists and I had Andy drop me off at the house with plans to pick up my van the next morning. Bad plan. The next morning found ice and snow shutting down the city. Power was out all over and I stayed in the house for two days. We were lucky and didn't lose power, but a big limb broke out of the tree in the back yard and fell where the van would have been parked.

Thinking of vans...I finally sold the Green Chrysler van shortly after Christmas and Andy sold the 61 Chevrolet in January.

The 356 Registry Holiday will be at West Baden Indiana, September 10-13 2009.

The 42d annual Kyana Swap meet will be at the KFEC the weekend of April 3-4-5. Friday is move in day with 'early bird shopping' from 5-9. Saturday the hours are 8-6 and Sunday 8-4. Admission is $10.00 per day and I believe a weekend pass is available for a bit more. It is the largest indoor swap met in the country. Folks bring their treasures from all over to this event. Admittedly there are rarely any Porsche items but it is an amazing source for tools and supplies. We always stock up there for expendables. I have occasionally found a rare trinket for 356, usually mixed in with other parts and fortunately the vendor does not know what he has.

And finally, my Mama always told me that if I didn't have anything nice to say about someone, don't say anything. Therefore I won't say anything about Obama.

In the immortal words of Bugs Bunny 'that's all folks'.
