Suggestion, if you are 'house hunting', note the homes in the area you are interested in. If they all have security doors and barred windows, look elsewhere. It's not a good neighborhood to live in. Razor wire topped chain link fence is another clue. I won't comment on the teen kids with baggy pants and hats on sideways hanging out on the corner.

The deal of the year...I see TV commercials from car dealers telling that if you can't pay for your new car you can turn it back in. Look at it this way, you buy a new car with a hefty down payment and/or trade in, make a few payments and then you give it back no strings. So you kiss your down payment goodbye, the value of your trade and the payments you have made. Guess who wins on this deal? You got it, the dealer. Isn't it nice that they are so generous that they will 'accept' your car back with no strings? A very expensive way to save your credit rating.

The Tenn. Tubs BBQ is on for May 16. Details on the website. We always make a trip down and meet up with the folks from Bowling Green. Good food, good folks and nice cars...

The KYANA swap meet was again fun. It is the largest indoor swap meet in the country. And again nothing for Porsche but a good source for tools and equipment. I bought a garbage bag full of cleaned used shop towels for about 1/2 cent a piece. These are 'use once and throw away' quality.

Almost finished with remodeling the old garage at Andy's. We insulated the ceiling area and then skinned the ceiling with luan and painted it white. Now it is easy to heat and keep clean. Andy found an airless sprayer at the KYANA swap meet just in time. We were just not interested in using paint rollers to paint that area.

I just took a look at the map of PCA zone 13. It is the most fragmented mess I have ever seen. It runs from the Canadian border to southern KY. The other zones make sense and have relatively reasonable boundaries. If you get a chance go to the PCA website and take a look. I wonder who we pissed off to get such a mess? Not only did we get the leftovers, we got stuck with the 'unlucky' number 13. Many years ago I was asked to help realign the zone borders. Since I had a blank page I 'claimed' Kentucky, western WV, southern Ohio and Indiana, and part of Missouri and IL (all within a 4 hour drive of Louisville). Obviously nothing came of my recommendations.

Every morning as I read the CJ I look at the celebrity birthdays. The only singers and actors I recognize are old. I am astonished to realize that the starlets I drooled over as a youth are now in their 70's and 80's. Recently someone sent me an e-mail entitled 'the women we loved' and it had pictures of movie stars of the 50's and as they look today. Many aged gracefully but some did not. Then I looked in the mirror.... One final thought....

I want to play poker with Obama. When the pot gets really big I will ask him to show me his hand so I will know how to play that pot. That's exactly what he is doing by releasing the reports about how we question terrorists. He is showing his (our) hand to them and we are now at a disadvantage playing the game.
