President's Report

President's Report - January 2012

Happy 2012 to everyone and my wish for all is an exciting and prosperous New Year. The Kentucky Region is gearing up for another strong DE year with two events in June and September. And with the strong support from BlueGrass Motorsports, our Region will continue offering the best DE experience you’ll find anywhere. Along with those events, we’ll be planning some fun and interesting drives and other events in the coming months. If you have any requests for places to go, please let us know.

This year we’re planning on changing a few things, mainly in the way the PaceSetter newsletter is distributed. Our plans are to go electronic and do away with the postal mailed copy. The new PaceSetter E-version will have more content, hundreds more color pictures and we’ll work towards making it printable on your own printer. Our goal is to shoot for the June or July issue for implementation so it is very important that you make every effort to sign up on the website so you can receive your copy. By signing up you will also get monthly (very limited) notices, mainly concerning membership meeting announcements and when the PaceSetter will be available for viewing. We’ll also be changing the Bylaws to reflect E-voting for Officers.

I would like to see more involvement from the membership this year. I’m very interested in your thoughts on how to make being a member more enjoyable and interesting. For example, we’re having our After Holiday Party Jan 14th and a good time will be had by all. In February, Porsche releases the new 991 and BlueGrass Motorsports will have an unveiling event that we plan on attending. With our Activity Chair’s help we should plan on doing the Asheville/Biltmore Estate weekend, the Tennessee Tubs event in May and many more. The "many more" part is what I’m looking for from the membership. Please take some time to send Steven Rountree or myself an email with your ideas.

So I end with the note about January’s membership meeting. It will be held at El Tarasco Mexican Restaurant at 7:00.

Hope to see you then.

President's Report - December 2011

Well the holidays are here and the end of another successful year for The Kentucky Region is at hand. The election of officers for the 2012 calendar year has been completed in a different way than expressed in our By-Laws. The difference is that all of the same officers for 2011 were voted in by “acclamation”. Why you ask, because there wasn’t anyone new interested in extending their name for any of the positions. Thus, no new names so no ballots were issued in the newsletter. So fortunately or not, the membership is stuck with the same cabinet as last year.

2011 holds some challenges for us. We’ll have two DE’s in 2012 because money has been allocated for that and the key DE team is still intact. I am extending a plea to the membership and asking for someone or several people who would be interested in helping with next year’s activities. You can be as creative as you want, but keep in mind this is a Porsche club and drives are important. As President, I would love to see one or several of our new members step up for the challenge. Please consider it and give me a call.

I would like, at this time, to wish all of you a most wonderful holiday season and the very best of everything for 2012. Also, my thanks go out to the Officers of The Kentucky Region for helping us making 2011 a great year. And to the membership for the outstanding attendance to the monthly meeting. I truly believe it’s been a fun time for all who were there. I would also like to thank Randy Biery, all of his guys and BlueGrass Motorsports for their continued support of The Kentucky Region PCA. We truly have an excellent relationship/partnership. Best wishes to everyone and we’ll see you at the December meeting at the BlueGrass Porsche dealership.

President's Report - November 2011

I hope this note finds everyone doing well, especially since Fall has fallen with some quite cool weather. There are still some great days ahead for doing a mid-fall drive somewhere and the leaves around here haven’t all gone away. If you have any ideas or want to make a plan, go on the website and place it on the Forum page. This year has flown by with elections next month and the holidays approaching. 2011 can go down as a good year for The Kentucky Region.

I would like to thank the membership for their support at the monthly meetings with some really nice turnouts. There is still a considerable number of members that have yet to make it to a meeting and or attend an event. It would be nice to know, as the chief officer of your club, what interests you so you can become more involved with your club. The National membership has risen to 60 thousand members and our region has grown by around 20 new members this year. If you have any improvement suggestions let me know. My contact information is always listed in the Pacesetter and on the website.

President's Report - October 2011

October is here and it looks like we had another outstanding DE event! Thanks to all involved in making The Kentucky Region’s DE event one of the best PCA has to offer. And as always, a BIG thanks to BlueGrass Motorsports, our local Porsche Dealership. Randy's (and this crew’s) involvement is second to none and always first class.

We have two driving events in October: the Louisville Concours Porsche paddock Oct 2nd, and the 12th Annual Huber’s Winery drive Oct 8th to meet up with the three other Regions (CIR, Bluegrass and SIR). The monthly membership meetings are going well with attendance growing each month. You should plan on attending this month’s meeting at Tony’s shop (Stuttgart Specialists) where we’ll have a cook out during the meeting. Also plan on attending our “Movie Drive-In Night” October 22nd sponsored by Mark Lichtefeld. We are looking at having another "After The Holiday’s Party" like last year, probably in mid January 2012.

It's that time of the year—when elections are at hand. If you’re interested in holding an office for the 2012 year, please let Matt Innes (elections chair) know so we can get your name on the ballot. New people and new ideas are the future of your club, why not get involved. As always, we're open to hearing from the membership about fun and interesting things to do. This is your club. Help us make it worth the time you have to invest.

Hope to see ya soon,

Steve McCombs

President's Report - July 2011

I hope everyone is doing well and your Porsches are tuned up and ready to go because summer is in full swing and The Ken- tucky Region has some really fun events on the schedule for the next several months. But before we get into those, there is one point of business.

I want to thank the membership for the wonderful attendance to our monthly meet- ings. On average we have 25 to 30 people attending each month. We’re trying hard to select interesting restaurants with good food as a great back drop to our meetings. Of course, we’d love to see more attend and get inputs on how the Club can make things more interesting and worth the time you invest. A special thanks to the new members, who venture out to the meetings not knowing what to expect. We trust that we’re making you feel welcome and part of the group.

On June 16th The Kentucky Region completed a hugely successful DE event. And the votes are in... The Kentucky Region has the best Porsche DE experience around! This is only possible by the unbelievable efforts of Jeremy Miller and his team of DE ex- perts. They have the process dialed in like a fine tuned watch. But like all successful events, it takes an outstanding sponsor and we’re blessed to have BlueGrass Mo- torsports Porsche Dealership with Randy Biery at the helm of this sponsorship striving each and every time to create excellence. Mega thanks to everyone for making this such an outstanding event. And the exciting thing about it is, we’re doing it all over again in September in case you missed it!
